The story
Keeping a small room light
This integral garage had a narrow footprint and limited natural light. Rather than emphasising its size with a dark workshop finish, the brief was to make it feel as bright and orderly as possible.
A simple palette
A warm white was chosen to sit alongside the walls and door without creating a harsh clinical look. The almost continuous colour allows the floor and walls to recede, making the available space feel less enclosed.
Neat edges make the difference
The concrete was mechanically prepared before cracks and vulnerable perimeter details were addressed. Primer and a smooth body coat created the colour, followed by a clear soft-sheen seal that kept the final appearance understated.
More useful, less forgotten
The completed garage feels brighter as soon as the door opens. It remains a straightforward, useful space, but the clean floor gives it the same sense of care as the rooms inside the home.
